Woman loses Rs. 6.9 lakh to online fraud

Mysore/Mysuru: A woman was cheated of Rs. 6.9 lakh under the pretext of paying towards the likes for YouTube videos and a case has been registered in this regard at Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Crime Police Station in the city.

The victim, wife of Sumanth of Hebbal 2nd Stage in the city, received a message on her cell phone, offering to pay Rs. 50 for liking a video on YouTube. Accordingly she liked six videos and received Rs. 300 in her account. The fraudster later offered lucrative returns of Rs. 3,900 for investing Rs. 3,000. When she even got Rs. 3,900 credited to her account, the fraudster gradually collected Rs. 6.9 lakh from her, only to cheat her later.

Coin trading racket

In another case, U. Kiran, 33 years, resident of J.P. Nagar in the city, has lost Rs. 13.94 lakh to online coin trading racket.

Kiran received a call from a number 1203205862 and the caller lured him with attractive returns for online coin trading. He created an account in the name of Kiran and got Rs. 13,94,663 invested in the trading to cheat him later. City CEN Crime Police have registered the case.
