Woman rider killed in bike-milk van collision

Mysuru: A 30-year-old woman was killed on the spot, while four others including her husband and three  children sustained injuries, when the motorcycle on which they were travelling collided head-on with a milk van in Varuna Police  Station limits of the taluk this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Salma Banu (30) of Kurubaradoddi village near Ajjipura in Chamarajanagar district.

Salma Banu, along with her husband Saifulla and children Shoaib Pasha-7, Zian Pasha-5, and Shifa-2, were travelling on  a TVS Victor bike on Mysuru – T. Narsipur road at about 8.30am, when a milk van coming in the opposite direction, collided head-on with the bike at the curved  stretch of the road near Varuna Lake.

As a result, Salma Banu, who was riding pillion, sustained serious injuries and died at the spot, while her husband and children, who escaped with minor injuries, were rushed to K.R. Hospital.

The family which had stayed at a relative’s house in Udayagiri here since a couple of days, was returning to Kumbaradoddi, when the mishap occurred, according to the Police. The Varuna Police have registered a case.
