Woman robbed of chain

Chain-snatchers use KTM bike, throw chilli powder on victim

Mysore/Mysuru: After a brief lull, chain-snatchers struck again in the city this morning, with a 45-year old woman becoming the latest victim.

Eeramma, 45, wife of Govindappa and a resident of K.G. Koppal, was walking towards a temple on Saraswathipuram first main road at about 8.30 am, when two miscreants who came  on a KTM bike in the opposite direction, threw chilli powder on her face and yanked off her 35-gram gold chain. The miscreants fled from the spot in a flash even before other pedestrians could  realise what was happening  and rush to the help of Eeramma.

Kuvempunagar Police Inspector G.C. Raju and staff rushed to the spot and conducted mahazar.

This is for the first time in the city that miscreants have used  a high end KTM motorcycle for chain-snatching and threw chilli powder on the victim for carrying out the crime. The entire act of the miscreants has been recorded in CCTV cameras installed close to the spot of crime and the Police are scrutinising the images captured in the cameras, according to  which the bike rider was wearing a fully covered helmet, while the pillion rider was wearing only a face mask.

Saraswathipuram Police, who have registered a case in this regard, have launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
