She had attempted suicide after allegedly abused by neighbour youth

Nanjangud: A 30-year-old woman committed suicide by setting herself on fire after she was allegedly abused by the neighbour youth at Kallahalli village in the taluk. The deceased woman is Jayashree, wife of Chinnaswamy of Kallahalli.

It is learnt that the youth, identified as Manjunath, neighbour of Jayashree, had allegedly abused Jayashree for some unknown reasons and depressed over it, Jayashree on Aug. 18, had doused herself with kerosene and had set herself ablaze when no one was present at the house.

Jayashree’s neighbours, who heard her screams, rushed to the house, rescued Jayashree and had admitted her to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where she succumbed to burn injuries yesterday.

Jayashree’s husband had lodged a complaint at Nanjangud Rural Police Station on the day she attempted suicide and the Police, based on the complaint, have registered a case. But accused Manjunath has switched off his mobile phone and has gone absconding. Police said that they have launched a hunt to nab the accused.
