Mysuru: Dispelling the notion that woman is the weaker sex, former MLA Parimala Nagappa has said that women have excelled in almost every field through sheer determination and dedication.
She was speaking after inaugurating the International Women’s Day celebrations organised with the theme ‘Woman as a conservator of culture’ at Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya on Irwin Road in city recently.
Stating that Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya was among the first organisations which promoted the discipline and commitment of women in over 140 countries of the world, she said that the Vidyalaya has devoted its entire time for spreading spiritualism.
Regretting that women are still fighting for gender equality, Parimala expressed concern over growing attacks and atrocities against women. Maintaining that women live in fear even in the 21st century in which there is rapid advancements in Science, Technology, Medical and other fields, she observed that practicing meditation (Dhyana) and Rajayoga will help in enhancing the inner strength of women.
Earlier, Gagan presented an excellent dance performance and Hamsadhwani women’s group presented a mass recital.
