Mysore/Mysuru: The following have been selected for annual awards given to progressive women farmers of Chamarajanagar and Mysuru districts by Madapura Kendavare Padma Bhushana Mahadevappa Seva Trust of Chamarajanagar. The awards will be presented tomorrow (Feb. 9) during the ongoing Jathra in Suttur.

The awardees: Lalithamma, wife of late Nagarajappa and resident of Beeranahalli Kavalu, Hunsur and Chinnamma, wife of late Chikkamari Nayaka, resident of Alaganchi in Nanjangud  (both from Mysuru district). They have been selected for cultivating 27 quintal and 25 quintal of paddy in every acre.

Deviramma, wife of C.G. Guruswamy, resident of Chinchahalli, Hanur Taluk and Sumana, wife of S. Nandish Kumar, resident of Kalanahundi, Chamarajanagar, have been selected in sericulture category for cultivating 81 kg  and 75 kg silk per 100 Dfls (Disease Free Layings) and R. Varsha, wife of N.P. Srikantaswamy of Ummathur, Chamarajanagar, for banana cultivation. The awards carry a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and citation.
