Mysuru: Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and local organisations and agencies coming under Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Ward Numbers 31 and 32 were educated on Government and MCC schemes at a programme organised at Srikanteshwara High School in Kyatamaranahalli here yesterday.
Addressing the gathering, DAY-NULM (Deen Dayal Upadhyaya National Urban Livelihood Mission) Community Development Officer Dr. T.S. Byralingaiah said that women SHGs must not restrict themselves to save money, but also engage themselves in other productive activities.
Pointing out that the Government has come up with a marketing mechanism for products manufactured by women SHGs, he said that this marketing mechanism will help in financial empowerment of women.
Stating that the MCC too is planning to promote marketing of products, Dr. Byralingaiah said that the beneficiaries are extended monetary help to street vendors, Bank loan facilitation, training on financial products etc., under DAY-NULM and called upon the women fraternity to make use of these opportunities and become self-reliant.
