Women’s Day projects by Mysore Ladies Circles

Prithvi Sudindar, Anita Ravindra and M.S. Sushma, who were felicitated by Mysore Ladies Circle-9 at its annual ‘Women Of Worth’ event at Windflower Resort in city on Sunday last, are seen with the members of Mysore Ladies Circle-9.

Mysore Ladies Circle-9 (MLC-9) held its annual Women Of Worth event at Windflower Resort in city on Sunday (Mar. 12) where they honoured three inspiring women for their roles in society.

Women who were felicitated on the occasion are Prithvi Sudindar, who runs The Mythri Charitable Trust, a place where 35 mentally-challenged people are trained to learn, earn and live with dignity; Anita Ravindra, a teacher at The Demonstration School (DMS), who is a strong advocate for rights of differently-abled women and M.S. Sushma, the young and dynamic Founder of The Janaseva Trust, who after her Master’s in Social Work, set up a centre for mentally-challenged women and children.  

Ladies Circle India National President Prachi Agarwal did the honours. Also present were the past and present members of MLC-9 and other Circles.

Association of Physicians of India (API), Mysuru Chapter celebrated International Women’s Day with a free health check-up camp for the inmates of Shaktidhama at its premises.  Inaugurating the camp, Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar  said that women face a lot of hardships in their lives and exhorted them not to lose hope but face the challenges that came in their way.

She said women contribute a lot for the welfare of the family and the society needs to acknowledge their selfless services.  

Dr. M. Suresh Babu, Professor of Medicine, JSS Hospital & President, API, Mysuru Chapter, said the Association was committed to conduct more such health camps benefiting the women. Sumana, advocate, welcomed.  Jayadev, Managing Trustee of Shaktidhama, spoke on the objectives of the Trust.  

As part of Women’s Day month, Mysore Heritage Ladies Circle-109 (MHLC-109) distributed 6 sewing machines and 6 wet grinders to 12 destitute women, scholarships to 13 underprivileged students and a few vendor umbrellas to street vendors on Mar. 10 in the presence of Ladies Circle India National President Cr. Prachi Agarwal, National Advisor Cr. Namrata Shenoy, Area Chairperson Cr. Preeti, Area Vice-Chairperson Cr. Sharon and Circlers of MHLC-109.

Shaktidhama is a rehabilitation and development centre for destitute and estranged women who are provided vocational skills to become economically self-reliant.
