‘Wooing Dalits has become a political gimmick’

Prof. Aravind Malagatti releases book on Dr. Ambedkar

Mysuru: Vishwa Maithri Pratishtana, together with Mysore University Researchers’ Association, had organised a function at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road in city on Monday for the release of the book ‘Vimochanege Ambedkar Koduge,’ written by Chikkanna Haginavalu.

Releasing the book, littérateur Prof. Aravind Malagatti said that Dr. Ambedkar always voiced for the upliftment of Dalits and Oppressed Classes and hence, due weightage was given for Dalits, Minorities and Backward Classes in the Constitution. However, he added that Dr. Ambedkar during the evening of his life embraced Buddhism opposing the irregularities in the Hindu religion.

He observed that all political parties develop an unusual love for Dalits as election approach. Pointing out that competing against each other, politicians visit houses of Dalits to share food, he alleged such a behaviour as just a political gimmick with no substance.

Prof. Aravind Malagatti commended the book of Chikkanna Haginavalu who has excellently brought out the thoughts and ideas of Dr. Ambedkar in the book also highlighting politics at the cost of Dalits.

Former Chairman of Kannada Book Authority Dr. Banjagere Jayaprakash, Sri Kalyanasiri Bantheji of Urilingapeddhi Mutt, former Mayor Purushotham, former Zilla Panchayat (ZP) President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath and others were present during the programme.
