Mysuru: A one-day workshop on ‘Emerging Trends in Research’ was jointly organised by the Department of History, Library, Research Cell and IQAC of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru recently. Dr. T.K. Umesh, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Mysore (UoM), in his inaugural address opined that ‘Research should focus on the betterment of society and humanity. He added that the solutions through research must be found for man – man conflict and man – nature conflict.
He also said documentation is an important process of careful research. He expressed regret that research articles by Indian scholars fail to get international recognition due to lack of originality in approach and urged for the need of a good and decent e-platform for sharing documentation and research.
In the technical sessions, Dr. D.S. Guru, Professor, Department of Computer Science, UoM, spoke on ‘Research and Documentation’, Dr.C.P. Ramasesh, Retd. Librarian, UoM, spoke on ‘Plagiarism-An Overview’ and Dr.R. Jagadeesh of SDM-IMD, Mysuru spoke on ‘Publish or Perish’.
R. Vasudevamurthy, President, Mahajana Education Society (MES), Dr. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Secretary, MES, Dr. S. Venkataramu, Principal, Mahajana First Grade College, Dr.S.R. Ramesh, CEO and Academic Advisor, Mahajana First Grade College, Dr. H. Sreedhara, Head, Department of History, N. Veena, Librarian, V.S. Avinash, Convenor, Research Cell were present on the occasion. Faculty, research scholars and students attended the workshop.
