Mysuru: Mysuru Zoo has completed 125 years in 2017. To mark the occasion, Mysuru Zoo is organising a National-level Workshop of Indian Zoo Veterinarians at its premises from Jan.7 to 9, for the first time in the history of the Zoo.
The main objective of this workshop is to provide a platform for Zoo Veterinarians to exchange knowledge and update their knowledge in management of captive wild animals.
The topic of this workshop is ‘Recent Trends in Captive Wild Animals Management.’ The participants of the workshop are Veterinarians working at various Zoos of India, Wildlife Division of Karnataka and some Wildlife Post-Graduate students.
In this workshop, two international speakers and 17 other speakers from other premier institutes of the country will share their experience and knowledge with participants.
The workshop will be inaugurated by Dr. Anup Kumar Nayak, Member-Secretary, Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi, on Jan.7 at 9.20 am and will be presided over by Jayaram, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru.
As a guest of honour, Neil Bemment, Vice-Chancellor, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar and Zoological Consultant and Conservation Advocate, EAZA Gorilla EEP Coordinator, EAZA Orangutan EEP Vice-Coordinator and B.P. Ravi, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary, Zoo Authority of Karnataka, Mysuru, will be present during the inaugural.
