Mysuru: With the monsoon catching up there is displacement of adult snakes and hatchlings emerging from their clutches. This has created a sense of panic among people. Fear of snakes is primal but there is a way to overcome it.
Kalinga Centre for Rainforest Ecology (KCRE) has announced its workshop — STORM (Scientific Training on Reptile Management) — which offers practical and fun ways of learning about snakes.
The workshop will be led by conservationists Gowri Shankar, Director, KCRE and Snake Shyam at Mysuru on June 30 and July 1. KCRE has also announced special discounts for students.
STORM workshop is meant for existing snake rescuers, wildlife students and researchers who are keen on learning more about snakes which could assist them in enhancing their knowledge in herpetology.
The workshop is also extended to wildlife enthusiasts and general public who are passionate about herpetology with a focus on snakes.
Participants get to interact with some of the top notch experts on snakes in India. The workshop also aims to inculcate soft skills, ethics behind snake rescue and communication skills among participants which will eventually train them on the right methods of snake rescue.
