More workshops on newer technologies needed: Official

Mysuru, June 22- Stressing on the need for organising more workshops for exchanging knowledge on newer technologies and innovations, Deputy Director of Horticulture Manjunath has said the research findings of Universities should reach every farmer.

He was speaking after inaugurating the first quarterly workshop (2017-18) for Horticulture Department officials at the Horticulture College here recently.

Giving a brief on the present horticultural situation in the district, Manjunath observed that it was very important that the fruits of agricultural research and initiatives reached every farmer.

College Dean Dr. Indresh, in his address, emphasised on the need for a perfect co-ordination between the Horticulture College and the Department as it would go a long way in the economic empowerment of the farming community.

The College faculty members Dr. Yatindra, Dr. Rajeshwari, Dr. Mutturaj and Dr.Thammaiah delivered lectures on different agricultural topics.

A few farmers shared their varied experiences. More than 65 Horticulture Extension Officers from Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts took part in the workshop.
