World Braille Day at Joyalukkas Scholarships distributed to visually impaired degree students

Mysuru: UNO has declared Jan.4 as World Braille Day to mark the birth anniversary of Louis Braille, the French educator and inventor of a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired. His system remains virtually unchanged to this day, and is known worldwide simply as Braille.

To commemorate this Day, Suraksha Foundation, Mysuru, along with Aksha Bharath Mission, Sahana Charitable Trust, Inner Wheel Club of Mysuru Central, Lions International, Abhyudaya Seva Samsthe, Orange Seva Samsthe and Team Swachanda held a programme at Joyalukkas Jewellery, B.N. Road, Mysuru, recently to distribute ‘Help The Blind Foundation Scholarship’ cheques to the deserving visually impaired degree students.

Gururaja – President, Lions Sevaniketan School; Dr. Mangala – Ophthalmologist, JSS Hospital; Anitha Suresh – President, Inner Wheel Central; Joffy Paul – Branch Manager, Joyalukkas, were present.
