World Haemophilia Day observed

MLA S.A. Ramdas lighting the lamp to inaugurate the World Hemophilia Day programme at MMC Platinum Jubilee Auditorium Millennium Hall in J.K. Grounds in city yesterday as others look on.

Mysuru:  Marking World Haemophilia Day, Haemophilia Society – Mysore Chapter, in association with K.R. Hospital, had organised a function at MMC Platinum Jubilee Auditorium Millennium Hall in J.K. Grounds here yesterday.

Doctors and patients of Hemophilia undergoing treatment participated in the programme.

Inaugurating the programme, MLA S.A. Ramdas observed that haemophilia, a hereditary disease, has been named an expensive disease needing regular costly treatment. He suggested that the disease should be included in the Bala Arogya  Swasthya Yojana.

Delivering the keynote address, Blood Bank Head Dr. Manjunath said that about 3,600 people of all ages are suffering from haemophilia in the State which include 94 children and 128 adults undergoing treatment at K.R. Hospital. He briefed the gathering on symptoms and treatment of the disease.

Haemophilia Federation (India) National President Dr. Vikas Goyal presided. MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj and K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Nanjundaswamy were the chief guests.

MLA Ramdas, Retired Medical Superintendent of K.R. Hospital Dr. Srinivas, practicing doctors Ravishankar, Girisha, Tejaswini and Sudha Rudrappa were felicitated on the occasion.

Haemophilia Society – Mysore Chapter President Dr. S.K. Mittal and others were present.
