World Kidney Day held

Mysore/Mysuru: The Institute of Nephrology Unit (INU), a Government autonomous institute,  Mysore Branch, K.R. Hospital Campus, had recently organised an event to mark World Kidney Day-2021 on the theme ‘Living Well With Kidney Disease.’

It was inaugurated by Dr. B.L. Nanjundaswamy, Medical Superintendent, K.R. Hospital.

 Dr. J. Shivanand Manohar, Psychiatrist, JSS Hospital,  delivered a talk on ‘Psychological health on Kidney illness and specifically on Kidney Failure’ while another resource person N.S. Siddaraju, Senior Dietician, Siddaganga Hospital, Tumakuru, delivered a talk on ‘Dietary requirements and role of diet in renal failure.’

This was followed by  a Street Play by Intimate Theatre Group, Mysuru. Prashanth and Praveen Belli team performed excellent act on Kidney Health Awareness.

Dr. S. Himamani, Unit Head of INU, Mysuru, spoke on how to live well with kidney disease; Dr. J.B. Narendra, Urologist and Head of Urology Department, INU Mysuru, spoke on the 3rd anniversary of INU on Mar.10 and how the institute was serving the poor under all Government Schemes (AB-ARK, SC-ST Scheme and also CMMRF Schemes). He also remembered INU Bangalore Director Dr. R. Keshavmurthy for  his support. Others present at the event were Dr. Rajesh Kumar, RMO, KR Hospital, Dr. Suneetha, Head, Department of Medicine, MMC&RI, Siddalingamurthy, Administrative Officer, INU, Mysore, Dr. Xavier D’Souza, Senior Urologist, Mysuru, Dr. Prakash K. Prabhu, Dr. Basavaraj, Professor of Medicine and Dr. M.R. Niranjan, Nephrologist, MMC&RI.
