World Vitiligo Day: Awareness vehicle passes through city

Campaign valedictory in B’luru tomorrow

Mysuru: As part of World Vitiligo Day, an awareness vehicle, launched by Indian  Association of Dermatology, Venereologist and  Leprologists (IADVL), which is traveling all over the State arrived from Kodagu in city yesterday.

The vehicle was flagged off by Dr. B. Krishnamurthy, Dean and Director, Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI), at its premises here.

The mission is to spread an awareness among people that Vitiligo is just a condition of the skin and not a hereditary or contagious disease. A message is also sent to people that Vitiligo could be cared through medicine and surgery.

The awareness vehicle passed through Chamaraja Wadiyar Circle, City Railway Station Circle and other thoroughfares. The vehicle had posters on it with massages like ‘Vitiligo is not a curse’, ‘It is not connected with Leprosy’ and many more.

The vehicle after, travelling through Chamarajanagar and Mandya, will reach Bengaluru today. The valedictory of the awareness campaign will be held tomorrow at the Town Hall in Bengaluru with Minister for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil as the chief guest.

IADVL State Secretary Dr. Bangaru, Treasurer Dr. Jayanth, Mysuru Wing President Dr. Surendran, MMC&RI Administrative Officer Indiramma, Head of Dermatology Section Dr. Nanjundaswamy, K.R. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Chandrashekar and Nursing students participated in the launch in city.
