Mysuru: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Maharaja Institute of Technology (MIT), Mysuru, in collaboration with Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and Madilu Foundation, celebrated World Water Day and World Forest Day at its premises in city recently.

The event commenced with a sapling plantation drive, followed by a formal stage programme.

DLSA Member-Secretary B.G. Dinesh was the chief guest. MIT Principal Dr. B.G. Naresh Kumar, Dean Academics and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT Dr. Mohamed Khaisar, Retired Chief Environmental Officer of KSPCB, Bengaluru, Kumaraswamy, Environmental Officer at KSPCB RO 1 Mysuru V.S. Kumar, Executive Director of Madilu Education & Rural Development Institute K. Srinivas, Assistant Professor at MIT Dr. G.D. Chethana and Deputy Environmental Officers of KSPCB Mysuru, Sabike Noobia and M.J. Jayalakshmi were present.

In recognition of their year-long commitment to environmental initiatives, MIT Mysuru and Madilu were awarded certificates.
