Wrestlers to lock horns for Dasara titles

Mysuru: The final bouts for ‘Dasara Kanteerava’, ‘Dasara Kesari’, ‘Dasara Kishore’, ‘Dasara Kishori’ and ‘Mysuru Dasara Kumara’ titles will be held at D. Devaraja Urs Multipurpose Stadium in Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) premises, here this evening as part of Dasara Wrestling Tournament.

Pailwan Basavaraj Patil of Davanagere and Pailwan Sadashiva of Mudhol will vie for ‘Dasara Kesari’ title while Pailwan Bapusaab Shinde of Mudhol and Pailwan Shivaiah of Bagalkot will compete for ‘Dasara Kanteerava’; Pailwan Mahesh P. Gowda and Pailwan Koravara Sanjeev, both from Davanagere, will fight for ‘Dasara Kishore’ title; Pailwan Shalini Siddi of Haliyala and Pailwan R.S. Gayathri Suthar for ‘Dasara Kishori’; Pailwan R. Nithin of Mysuru and Pailwan Girish of Mandya for ‘Mysuru   Dasara Kumara’ title. 

‘Dasara Kanteerava’ winner will receive 1¼ kg silver mace and Rs. 15,000 cash prize; runner-up will get Rs. 12,500; third place (2 prizes) – Rs. 10,500 and Rs. 10,000. ‘Dasara Kesari’ winner will receive 1 kg silver mace and Rs. 12,500 cash prize; runner-up – Rs. 10,500; third place (2 prizes) – Rs. 8,000 and Rs. 7,500.

‘Dasara Kishore’ winner – 500-gram silver mace and Rs. 10,000 cash; runner-up – Rs. 8, 000; third place – Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 5,000.

‘Dasara Kishori’ – 500-gram silver mace and Rs. 10,000 cash prize; runner-up – Rs. 8,000; third place –  Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 5,000.

‘Dasara Kumara’ winner – 750-gram silver mace and Rs. 10,000 cash; runner-up – Rs. 8,000; third place -Rs. 5,500 and Rs. 5,000.

The Dasara Wrestling Sub-Committee has also announced a cash prize of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 1,000 for winner, runner-up and third place in State-level U-17 Wrestling Championship for Boys and Girls.

Meanwhile, stunts performed by Ramesh Danappa Patil Sindagi and Gangappa Shiroora received appreciation from the audience and wrestlers present at the stadium yesterday. While Gangappa picked up a sack weighing 250 kg without any help, Ramesh displayed his strength by carrying an iron rod weighing 102 kg.
