Wrestlers trained by Mysurean win medals at intl. event

India has bagged two gold and three bronze medals at the World Cadet Wrestling Championships held at Hungary in Europe recently. The wrestlers were trained under the guidance of ace wrester of Mysuru, Vinod Kumar.

A resident of Tonachikoppal, Vinod Kumar, the Chief Coach, learnt wresting from L. Manjappa, a retired wrestling coach. Vinod Kumar has represented India for five times since 2003. Several prizes have been bagged by the teams led by him in over 10 international events.

He has been working as a wrestling coach since 2015 and training young wrestlers at Hattu Janagala Garadi in T.K. Layout. Currently, he is working as trainer at Karnataka Sports Authority, Davangere and imparting training to youths. Besides, he is pursuing Ph.D on wrestling under the guidance of Dr. Madil Alagan.
