‘Writing is an art which no one should quit’

Jnanabuthi conducts free coaching camp for assistant professor aspirants

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that writing is an art which no one should quit, retired academician Prof. H.M. Rajashekar opined that continuous reading or typing on cell phones is not good for one’s health.

He was speaking after inaugurating free coaching camp for Assistant Professor aspirants organised by Jnanabuthi at Lakshmipuram Government High School and PU College on JLB road here on Thursday.

Stressing on the need for job aspirants to regularly read  newspapers and magazines to keep their knowledge updated, Prof. Rajashekar observed that most South Indian students do not have command over languages other than their mother-tongue.

Noting that North Indian students are always at an advantage as other than Hindi, they have knowledge about a few other languages as well, he said that learning Hindi is vital for acquiring knowledge.

Reiterating that writing is an art, he regretted that some are getting undue publicity by using Hindi for political purposes, which is not correct. He called upon the aspirants to shun excessive use of mobiles and to concentrate more on current affairs, which is key for success in competitive exams.

Humorist and writer Prof. M. Krishnegowda, who presided, said it is important for students to concentrate on reading, with focus on academics. Highlighting the qualities of a good teacher, he said concentration, dedication and determination are vital for successfully taking on competitive exams, especially at a time when there is cut-throat competition for every job.
