Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has said that while some reforms were introduced during this year’s Dasara, there is still scope for further changes.
Speaking to reporters during the Chamundeshwari Rathotsava atop Chamundi Hill this morning, Yaduveer said, he did not want to indulge in a blame game and would discuss the issues at an appropriate time.
Calls for clarity on protocol
Reacting to the alleged protocol breach during the Jumboo Savari, Yaduveer said that clarity was needed on the established protocol.
“I have been participating in the Jumboo Savari as a representative of the Mysore royal family for the past 12 years, following my mother’s instructions. As far as I know, the CM, Dy.CM and two officials used to be present. Beyond that, I do not have much information about the protocol,” he said.
CM’s presence is enough
Asked about Ministers being stopped from attending the Nandi Dhwaja Puja, Yaduveer said the State Government should decide how to handle the issue. Personally, he felt that fewer people should be present, with greater emphasis on rituals.
“The CM represents the State, and his presence is sufficient. Even our presence is not required, as it is a Government programme,” he said.
Yaduveer also expressed concern over CMs of neighbouring States showering flower petals on the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari. While acknowledging that their participation could bring greater publicity to Dasara, he questioned their presence on the dais and reiterated that a standard protocol be established.
