Yamini Muthanna to perform at Balugodu in Kodagu on Nov. 6

Mysuru: April Festival Committee (AFC), Kodagu, has organised a Bharatanatyam performance by danseuse Yamini Muthanna on Nov. 6 (Monday) at Federation of Kodava Samajas, Balugodu, Kodagu district. The performance will be from 6.30 pm to 9 pm.

According to Kallichanda Nataraj of AFC, the Committee aims at promoting India’s rich cultural heritage by organising such festivals. Last year, AFC had organised a mega show of six top singers of Kodagu district at Choorikad School Grounds that was witnessed by over 2,000 spectators.

About Yamini: Yamini Muthanna is an exponent and teacher of Bharatanatyam and ‘Hatha Yoga.’ She is the Artistic Director of Bengaluru-based KYAAT ensemble “Kalasinchanam Yogasthala Ancient Arts Trust,” a centre for learning Bharatanatyam.

Yamini has performed Bharatanatyam at many countries and her performances encompass a wide spectrum of spiritual and secular themes. Completing over three decades in the field of performing arts, she has performed for a variety of occasions, national and International festivals, conferences, corporate functions, product launches and many such gatherings.

A Post-Graduate in English literature, Yamini believes that Indian art, especially Indian music, dance and yoga, have some of the most profound and essential things that India has to offer. She has students from all over the world studying at her exclusive Yoga and Bharatanatyam Studio at Indiranagar in Bengaluru.

She is the recipient of awards like the prestigious “Natyakala Vipanchee” a title awarded by Vipanchee Sabha during their Music and Dance Festival in Chennai and “Shringaramani” award, a title received at the Kalakar Sammelan at Birla Kendra, Mumbai. In 2016, she bagged the “Saarthak Nari” award conferred on her by CNBC TV9. She is also a ‘Top-Graded’ artiste at Doordarshan. As an empanelled artiste with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, she has travelled worldwide as a cultural ambassador, appointed by the External Affairs Ministry.

Yamini has been trained in Bharatanatyam by Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy and her Yoga Sadhana is blessed by Yogacharya, Yogavisharadha B.N.S. lyengar. Yamini has authored a book ‘The Power of Yoga’ that is currently being translated to Chinese language.
