Mysuru: Celebrated Novelist Yashwant Chittala’s play ‘Shikari’ will be staged as part of Rangayana’s weekend show at Bhoomigeeta, Rangayana, in city at 6.30 pm tomorrow (Aug.20). Announcing this at a press meet at Rangayana’s P. Lankesh Gallery this morning, Rangayana Director Bhagirathi Bai Kadam said that the play Shikari, based on a novel written by Yashwant Chittala in the mid 1970s, is a present day suspense thriller, set in the Multi-National Corporate world, with honey traps. Sabotage, chemical fire tragedy, corporate fraud and even irresponsible journalism. The play is also about the varieties of caste identity, professional rivalry and career, she said.
The play will also be staged at the same venue at 6.30 pm on Aug.27. The play is adapted and directed by Prakash Belawadi with stage design by H.K. Dwarakanath, costume design by Sankeerthi Hypanjiguli and light by Mahesh Kallatti, she said.
Continuing, Bhagirathi Bai Kadam said, the Rangayana will host College Rangotsava during Dasara in order to lure the youth towards the theatre. As part of Rangotsava, the Rangayana will stage four plays — Krishnegowdana Aane, Kattale Belaku, Checkmate and Ahalya, she added.
‘Shikari’ play stage managers S. Ramu and Krishna Prasad, Associate Director V.N. Mallikarjuna Swamy, Publicity Managers Prashanth Hiremath and M.S. Geetha were present during the press meet.
