Bengaluru: Claiming that disgruntled Congress and JD(S) Legislators were eager to join the BJP, State BJP President B.S. Yeddyurappa (BSY) on Saturday said that it is the responsibility of the BJP to induct those who are willing to join the party.
Addressing a meeting of BJP Yuva Morcha here yesterday, Yeddyurappa, who is also the Opposition Leader in the Legislative Assembly, said that several disgruntled youngsters and leaders of Congress and JD(S) are on their toes to join the BJP.
Maintaining that the Congress has surrendered to the JD(S) by giving away all prominent portfolios, Yeddyurappa asserted that the Congress itself was paving the way for a Congress-free (Congress Mukt) Karnataka.
Mocking the Congress for joining hands with the JD(S), he asked the party workers to work as a strong opposition.
Pointing out that the party which has 104 MLAs should work as an effective opposition, Yeddyurappa made a scathing attack on Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy over his promise of waiving farmer’s loans.
State BJP Yuva Morcha President and Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, in his address, said that the BJP could not come to power as it fell just short of a majority.
Pointing out that the BJP lost over 20 Assembly seats by a thin margin, he said that although the BJP was not in power, the people of the State were in favour of the BJP.
He claimed that all those leaders from different parties, who were rejected by the people, were coming together to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in next year’s Lok Sabha election.
Hitting out at Communists for joining hands with corrupt and tainted leaders only for the sake of power, the MP said that the people were aware of the nefarious designs of these opportunistic leaders.
