YHAI invites entries for folk dance contest

Mysore/Mysuru: Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), Karnataka State Branch, Bengaluru, in association with Tumakuru Units, has organised a folk dance competition. Guru Pulikeshi Kasturi, Director, Shanthala Arts Academy, T.H. Hanumanthe Gowda, film actor and H.B. Mahesh, folklore specialist, will be the judges for the contest.

Dance videos can be sent through  WhatsApp or Telegram to H. Ravikumar, Chairman, Mysuru Unit of YHAI and National Council Member on Mob: 99001-52042 or N.S. Prasanna, State Organising Secretary of YHAI, on Mob: 98868-08296 or e-mail to yhaikarnataka@ yahoo.co.in before Aug. 31.

Participants must be members of YHAI (Copy of the YHAI Membership Card or the Receipt must be attached). They must be above 15 years of age. The folk dance should depict the theme ‘Regional Folk Dance.’ A folk dance caption must be given to the region it represents. A team can have four to 10 participants. The duration of the dance should be a minimum of 5 minutes and maximum of 8 minutes. Song lyrics must be in a language from the same region the dance represents. No movie songs are entertained. Video must be in the format of MP4, AVI or MKV file and maximum size should be 200 MB. Prizes will be given to first three best performances apart from three consolation prizes. All contestants will be given e-certificates.
