Mysore/Mysuru: “Apart from possessing a copy of Bhagavadgita, every household should have a book on yoga too”, said Srirangapatna’s Chandravana Ashram Seer Sri Trinetra Mahanta Swamiji.
He was speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebration of the city’s Sri Patanjali Yoga Shikshana Samiti at Sarada Vilas Centenary Hall in Krishnamurthypuram here on Sunday.
Asserting that yoga is the only science that creates awareness among human beings, enhances body strength, builds personality and that is supplemental for achieving big in life, Trinetra Mahanta Swamiji noted that yoga keeps away one from ailments. Stressing that yogasanas should be performed with effort, he said that yoga also helps in bringing about happiness in life.
Karnataka Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellor S. Ahalya described yoga as the advanced education of life.
Maintaining that yoga is knowledge for all times, she said that yoga will improve our health by bringing about peace of mind. As such, both yoga and meditation should be an essential and daily part of our life, she pointed out.
Bharathi Yogadhama Founder K.L. Shankarnarayana Jois too spoke at the event.
The New Year calendar of the Samiti was released on the occasion. The event also featured cultural programmes.
Samiti Treasurer N.S. Mahesh presided.
Vijayanagar Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple Administrative Officer Srinivas, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, Samiti Treasurer N.S. Mahesh, office-bearers M. Reddaiah Raju, K.S. Gopalakrishna, Siddalingaiah, Satyanarayan and others were present.
