Yoga Convocation held

Mysuru: A total of 70 students were awarded degrees at the ‘Yoga Convocation’ organised by Mysuru Vivekananda Yoga Shikshana Mattu Samshodhana Samsthe in association with World Yoga Alliance (WYA), at Jaganmohan Palace in city this morning.

Speaking after giving away the degrees, KR MLA S.A. Ramdas said that yoga teachers should actively engage themselves in teaching yoga to people from all sections of the society. Highlighting the benefits of yoga, he said that yoga teachers play a crucial role in maintaining social health too apart from the usual physical & mental health benefits of yoga.

Pointing out that he will soon launch ‘Strong India’ campaign across KR Constituency that aims to teach yoga to children, he said that the campaign will be based on the concept of ‘Strong children for a stronger India.’

Sucharita Mataji of Mysuru Vivekananda Yoga Shikshana and Samshodhana Samsthe graced the occasion.

Former MLC Siddaraju, Yoga Sports Foundation Hon. President Dr. P.N. Ganesh Kumar, Government Ayurveda College faculty Dr. H.A. Sashirekha, GSS Yoga Foundation’s Srihari, S. Swamy of DIET, Mysuru, Baba Ramdev Patanjali Yoga Samiti’s Rathna Rao and others were present.

In all, 70 candidates were awarded degrees which included PG Diploma in Yoga Education (11 male and 13 female students), PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy (12 female students) and Diploma in Yoga Education (23 male and 11 female students).

A total of 11 top students were awarded gold medals. They are B. Satyavathi, R. Raju, T.P. Mythravathi, N. Prashanth, C. Prateep, N. Supreetha, M.D. Bharath Deskar, I.N. Kumuda, H.R. Anusha, Suma Prakash and Anusha Shetty.
