Yoga Dasara to feature seminar, competitions and trek

Mysuru: As part of Mysuru Dasara-2026, Yoga Dasara has been organised for four days between Oct. 14 and 19 at various venues in Mysuru and Nanjangud.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan in city yesterday, Land Records Deputy Director Ramya, who is also Yoga Dasara Deputy Special Officer, said that Health Minister U.T. Khader will inaugurate the event on Oct. 14 at 10 am  at the Platinum Jubilee Hall of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) in J.K. Grounds, Mysuru.

Scientific seminar

A one-day scientific seminar on yoga will be held at the same venue. Dr. M.U. Sujan, Dr. P. Sudhakar, Dr. Harish Babu and Dr. P.G. Arun will speak on the role of yoga in leading a healthy life and other related topics.

Yogasana competition

District AYUSH Officer Dr. Renuka Devi said, a State-level Dasara Yogasana competition would be held at P. Kalinga Rao Hall at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds on Oct. 16. MLA T.S. Srivatsa will inaugurate the competition at 10 am.

Participants can register online for the competition. Cash prizes of Rs. 3,000, Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 2,000 will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners respectively.

Rural Yoga Dasara

A Rural Yoga Dasara programme will be held at the Government Pre-University College premises in Nanjangud on Oct. 18. MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan will inaugurate.

Yoga Dasara Sub-Committee Working President Niroop Wesley, who also spoke, said that a Yoga Trek and Durga Namaskara  programme would be organised on Oct. 19.

Participants will trek from the foot of Chamundi Hill to the temple through the steps starting at 6 am.

A stage programme, including Durga Namaskara Yogasana, will be held in the Hill temple premises from 8 am. Chamundeshwari Constituency MLA G.T. Devegowda will participate in the programme.
