Yoga Day at Palace on June 21: Poster released

Mysuru – The district administration will celebrate the 12th  International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Mysore Palace premises on June 21.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here yesterday, Additional DC R. Aishwarya said that people must continue to practise yoga all throughout the year and not just on the International Yoga Day.

Stressing on the need for making yoga as a part of life, she said yogasanas will help revive the muscles and nerves in our body.

“The Yoga Day will begin with the performance  of yoga exercises in the Palace premises at 6 am on June 21. The performance of various asanas would go on till 8 am, in which several Yoga Associations from across the district will take part,” she said.

“MCC has been tasked with supply of drinking water and maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness, while the Palace Board will erect platform and public address systems and the Police Department will take care of bandobust for the mega event,” she said.

D. Srihari, President, Yoga Federation of Mysore, said it has been planned to make Mysuru a yoga hub by arranging yoga performances at 120 places across the city on June 21. Preparations are also underway for ensuring the participation of at least 1.2 lakh performers  along with 1,200 Yoga Trainers, he added.

A poster on International Yoga Day at Mysuru was released at meeting attended by District AYUSH Officer Dr. Renukadevi, Tourism Department Assistant Director Dr. V.M. Prabhuswamy, ACP Rajendra and representatives of Yoga Associations.
