Young hotelier ends life over loss in business

Mysore/Mysuru: Unable to bear the mounting debt following a loss in hotel business, a youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging self in Lokanayakanagar in city yesterday.

The deceased youth is Abhijit (31), a resident of Hebbal 2nd Stage in city.

Abhijit was running a hotel by name ‘Naan King’ near Vijayanagar Water Tank. He had winded up the business after suffering losses since six months.

According to the Police complaint lodged by his brother S. Avinash, Abhijit had taken a loan of Rs. 25 lakh from a private finance firm and had also taken a car loan for Rs. 15 lakh from another private finance company, besides taking hand loans from others.

Abhijit was supposed to repay Rs. 1 lakh every month. As he was unable to repay the loans, the monthly instalments began to mount. He had stopped coming to his house since then and was staying in his friend’s house at Lokanayakanagar since four months.

As pressure for repayment began to mount, Abhijit became depressed and took to liquor.

On Aug. 31 night, Abhijit partied with his friends till 4.30 am the next day. Later, his friends dropped him to the house and at about 5.30 am, his friends left the house to fetch breakfast. But at about 6.30 am, Abhijith hanged himself to the ceiling fan in the hall of the house, it is learnt.

Avinash said that after his friends informed him about the incident, he lodged a complaint with Metagalli Police, who have registered a case.
