Mysuru: In an effort to provide the needy and the homeless with basic amenities such as clothes, slippers, blankets, books and others, the Mysuru Chapter of Young Indians (Yi) established ‘Wall of Kindness’ at the Dasappa Circle near Mandovi Motors this morning.
Inaugurating the Wall, both Mayor M.J. Ravikumar and MCC Commissioner G. Jagadeesha said that it was good project taken up by the organisation to help those who are in need.
They also promised to the install CCTV cameras at the place to avoid theft and also said that they would allot places at various junctions in the city for Young Indians to come out with similar projects.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Yi Mysuru Chair Akshara Kumar said that the project was aimed to help the needy, create positive impact on society and to instil compassion and sharing among the citizens.
She added that Yi Mysuru would also want to establish similar walls in residential areas, colleges, slums and near corporate companies in future.
People can visit the place and leave their old clothes, slippers, shoes and other materials. Those who are in need can take materials they need.
The Wall of Kindness is open 24 hours throughout the year. Corporator Nandeesh Preetham, Yi Co-Chair Ravi, members Bharath, Nidhi Shah, Prathiba Nayak, Vinay, Chaitra, MCC Superintending Engineer Suresh Babu and others were present.
