Youth arrested for attempting to stab Traffic Police Constable

Mysore/Mysuru: Devaraja Police have arrested a youth on charges of attempting to stab a Traffic Police Constable on duty in city on Wednesday.

The accused has been identified as Shekar, a resident of Kuri Mandi in Narasimharaja (NR)  Police limits.

At about 7 pm on Wednesday, Traffic Constable Siddaraju and others were conducting checking of vehicles near KR Circle, when he noticed two youths fighting inside the park, opposite to City Bus Stand.

Constable Siddaraju, who went inside the park, questioned the two youths during which one of them fled from the spot. But accused Shekar, who took out a knife, tried to slash the neck of Siddaraju, who stepped back to avoid getting injured. The knife brushed on Siddaraju’s shirt tearing it. Accused Shekar tried to flee from the spot, but was caught with the help of the public and handed over to Devaraja Police, who have registered a case, Devaraja Traffic Inspector Mamatha told SOM.
