Mysore/Mysuru: Narasimharaja (NR) Police have arrested a youth on the charges of stabbing a woman with a dagger, over a petty issue at Gandhinagar in city last night.
It is said that the youth, was sitting in front of the house of the woman and smoking when the latter objected to it. The youth got infuriated and allegedly hit the woman with a stone. Meanwhile, the woman’s 47-year-old daughter rushed to her mother’s help, but the youth reportedly pulled out a dagger and stabbed her, following which the residents rushed to her help and admitted her to a private hospital in the city.
Narasimharaja Inspector Lakshmikanth K. Talawar and staff, who visited the spot, arrested the youth.
During the inquiry, the youth reportedly said that he was drunk and got angered after the woman scolded him and hence he stabbed her with a dagger.
The woman in her complaint has stated that the youth, was smoking ganja, prompting the Police to decide on subjecting him to medical test today (Aug. 8). If the report tests positive for consuming ganja, a case will be registered against him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Sincere efforts will be made to provide justice to the injured woman, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar added.
Meanwhile, the residents, who endorsed the statement of the victim, stated that the accused was also a ganja addict and was indulge in fights frequently.
They also complained about many youths smoking ganja inside the nearby park and urged the Police to take action.
