Mysuru: There is lack of job opportunities for youth who have passed Fine Arts Courses and hence, most of the students hesitate to take these courses. This attitude has resulted in many Fine Arts Colleges including the likes of Sandesh on the verge of closure, said Karnataka Arebhashe Literature and Culture Academy Member Shweta Madappadi.
She was speaking after distributing certificates at the valedictory of Children’s Camp organised by Mysuru’s Sandesha Culture and Education Foundation, here recently.
Expressing her displeasure with the prevailing situation, she said that the students who have passed out of Fine Arts courses are forced to give up their study and pursue MBA and other courses in search of jobs.
It is not enough that the Government has several programmes to encourage music, dance and other courses, it is equally important to create job opportunities. There is a Music and Performing Arts University in Mysuru and Janapada University in Haveri and there is no future for the students who pass out of these Universities as they do not finds jobs. Hence, such issues have to be viewed very seriously, she said.
Only if these courses are introduced in High School and Colleges, can the students develop interest in Fine Arts, she felt.
Sandesh Foundation Trustee Roy Castelinho, Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo and others were present during the programme.
