Mysuru: A youth died of injuries while his friend escaped with minor injuries when the car in which they were travelling toppled and crashed into an electric pole on Vijayanagar 2nd Stage Ring Road in the early hours of Tuesday.
While the deceased has been identified as N. Yashwanth (21), a resident of Maratagere Bhovi Colony in Arasikere of Hassan district, who was pursuing his nursing course at a private college in Kuvempunagar, his injured friend is 21-year-old Mallikarjun of Maratagere Bhovi Colony.
Mallikarjun, who had borrowed a Honda Civic car (DL-3-BE-5658) from a known person, had come to Mysuru in the car on some work. On Aug. 4 at about 1 am, Mallikarjun and Yashwanth were proceeding in the car from Hunsur flyover side towards Bharath Cancer Hospital side, when Yashwanth, who was driving the car, lost control of the vehicle as he was reportedly speeding. The car toppled and crashed into an electric pole before coming to a halt.
Yashwanth, who had sustained serious injuries, lost his conscious. Though he was being rushed to a hospital, he is said to have breathed his last midway.
VV Puram Traffic Police have registered a case.
