Malavalli: Miscreants brutally hacked a 30-year-old youth in broad daylight with lethal weapons at a shop in Halagur, Malavalli taluk, yesterday. The youth succumbed to severe injuries at Malavalli Government Hospital.

The deceased youth is Ramu, son of Chikkadevaiah and a resident of Dalimbehalli in Sathanur hobli of Ramanagaram district.

Ramu, who was employed at B.K. Provision Stores in Halagur, was working at the shop in the morning and the miscreants, who noticed Ramu at the shop at about 10.40 am, barged into the shop with machetes and brutally assaulted him besides warning others standing outside not to interfere.

The seriously injured Ramu was rushed to Malavalli Government Hospital where he breathed his last due to severe bleeding. 

Meanwhile, the public have captured the murderous assault on Ramu on their mobile phones and the video has gone viral on social media. The body was shifted to Taluk Hospital, where post-mortem was conducted and was handed over to the deceased’s family members. Halagur Police have registered a case and are investigating.
