Youth returns gold jewellery and cash found on road

Madikeri: Displaying his honesty, a 23-year-old youth has returned gold jewellery worth Rs.1.5 lakh and cash of Rs.17,000, which he found on a road, to its rightful owner.

Baduvandra Sujay, a resident of Maragodu in Madikeri taluk, was travelling on the main road near Hoskeri, when he found a bag.

Upon opening the bag, Sujay found gold jewellery, cash and other valuable documents.

After succeeding in finding a cell phone number, he called up the bag owner Manikanta and returned it to him.

Manikanta, a resident of Napoklu, took an auto and went carrying the bag, which was meant to be kept at the house of a relative for safe custody.

As Manikanta travelled in the auto, the bag is said to have accidentally dropped from the auto midway, which Manikanta was unaware about.

But Sujay, who happened to travel on the same road sometime later, found the bag and returned it to its rightful owner Manikanta, thus earning praise from fellow villagers  for his honesty.

Sujay is a State-level football player and captain of Maragodu Vaishnavi  Football team.
