Youth sent to jail for kidnapping minor girl

Mysuru: A city Court yesterday sentenced a youth to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 for kidnapping a minor girl and forcing her to marry him.

The youth, who was sentenced, has been identified as 29-year-old D. Raju of Sahukarahundi in the taluk. He was accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old schoolgirl in 2012 and forced her to marry him. The girl somehow managed to escape with the help of the public and the girl’s parents had lodged a complaint at Yelwal Police Station in this regard.

Principal District and Sessions Court Judge PGM Patil, who heard the arguments, found Raju guilty of the crime and sentenced him to jail besides imposing fine.Public Prosecutor H.E. Chinnappa argued on behalf of the Govt.
