Youth sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for raping minor relative

Mysuru:- The POCSO Special Court in city has sentenced a youth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment besides slapping a fine of Rs. 55,000 for raping his minor relative repeatedly following which the girl had conceived and had delivered a baby. The youth, who was sentenced, is 28-year-old Mahadeva, a resident of Mayigowdanahalli in K.R. Nagar taluk.

The accused had raped his 16-year-old relative, a resident of Vijayanagar in city repeatedly in 2015 after threatening her, following which the girl became pregnant.  

The girl’s mother, who came to know about the incident, had lodged a complaint at Vijayanagar Police Station in this regard.

Vijayanagar Police, who had registered a case, conducted investigation and had submitted the charge-sheet to the Court.

Special POCSO Court Judge B.S. Jayashree, who heard the arguments and based on the DNA of the baby and the investigation report, found the accused guilty of the crime and pronounced the judgement. Special Public Prosecutor B.C. Shivarudraswamy argued for the Government.
