Youth should pledge to prevent atrocities on women

Mysore/Mysuru: Though the role of women is very important in the development of the country, atrocities on them (women) has increased in recent days and time has come for the youth to take pledge to prevent atrocities on women, said Women and Child Development Department Project Officer Geetha Lakshmi.

Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the Women’s Day celebration at Organisation for the Development of People (ODP) at Bannimantap here yesterday, Geetha Lakshmi opined that the role of women was important in the development of a country, which includes India and added that women have achieved in all sectors and regretted that a few issues were creating problems to them.

District Legal Services Authority’s panel advocate S. Sundar Raj, who also spoke explained about 42 Acts for women’s protection besides explaining about the procedures involved in seeking legal help for women, who have undergone atrocities. 

ODP Director Fr. Alex Prashanth Sequeira presided. Child Development Project Officer Madhusudhan, Sub-Inspector Yasmin Taj, Maghilodaya Women’s Federation Programme Convenor Sunitha, Arogya Mary, Taluk Federation Treasurer Asha, ODP members, volunteers and others were present.
