Accused arrested by Kuvempunagar Police, hunt launched to nab others

Mysore/Mysuru: Kuvempunagar Police have arrested the accused who had stabbed his wife’s brother to death at his house in Ramakrishnanagar ‘I’ Block in city on Saturday.

While deceased is Abhishek (26), son of Swamy Gowda of Koorgalli in the outskirts of city, the prime accused is Ravichandra, husband of Abhishek’s sister Vidya and a resident of Ramakrishnanagar ‘I’ Block. Cops said that doctors treating the accused at a private hospital said that he (Ravichandra) will be discharged today, following which he will be produced before a city Court.

Kuvempunagar Inspector Yogeesh said that clues have been gathered about other accused — Ravichandra’s brother Kumar, mother Sharada, aunt Padma and her son Karthik — who have gone absconding and steps have been taken to arrest them.

It may be recalled that following alleged dowry harassment from Vidya’s husband and his family members, Abhishek had gone to Ravichandra’s house to bring her back, during which Ravichandra had reportedly stabbed him on his chest and Ravichandra’s brother Kumar, mother Sharada, aunt Padma and her son Karthik brutally assaulted the severely bleeding Abhishek with sticks leading to his death. Abhishek’s friend Gautham, who was with him, was also assaulted resulting in serious injuries.

Ravichandra, who claimed that he was also injured in the incident, had got himself admitted to a private hospital in city and the remaining accused had gone absconding.

Following a complaint from Vidya, Kuvempunagar Police, who had registered a case, arrested Ravichandra and are waiting for the doctors to discharge him following which Ravichandra will be produced before  a city Court.
