Mysore/Mysuru: “A nation’s future will be bright only when its youths question the mistakes committed by the society,” opined Mysuru Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Deputy Secretary Dr. Premkumar.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Physical Fitness Camp jointly organised by the Mysuru Group National Cadet Cops (NCC), Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES), NCC Alumni Association students and the University of Mysore on Saturday.
“The age between 15-21 is a period when the mind is very curious to explore in life and if you are active during this period in the fields of education, sports and other cultural activities, it will help you to achieve something in your life. Changes will also take place in your body during the period. It is the age which is rebellious in nature and want to do things which they are not supposed to. So, take good decisions in this period,” he advised.
“Your hard work in these 5-6 years will ensure a quality life for the next 50 years. Select your field of interest and don’t lose your focus and divert your attention to other unnecessary matters. You need to look back at our ancient culture in this period and decide what is good and bad. Cultivate the habit of studying our country’s culture and politics even if you don’t want to enter politics. If you understand the history of politics, fundamental rights and duties in a Democracy, you can move in the right direction and caution the society and system when they commit mistakes,” added Dr .Premkumar.
Col. R.R. Menon, NCC Group Commander, who also spoke on the occasion, said that many employment opportunities will be created in the Defence Department and asked the participants to acquire more skills. “In the coming days, many jobs will be created in the Army and Naval forces. So, there is a need to acquire more physical and mental skills right from now. The purpose of this camp becomes meaningful only when you learn what is being taught here, secure a job and serve the country,” he opined.
Certificates to 70 Cadets were issued on the occasion.
DYES Assistant Director K. Suresh, NCC Mysuru Group Administrative Officer Col. V. Srinivas, Commanding Officer Col. Parag, Manjunath of NCC, Dr. Chandrashekar of Aditya Hospital and others were present on the occasion.
