Mysuru: The Day-3 of Yuva Sambhrama at Kuvempu Open-Air Theatre yesterday witnessed students of Parivarthana College in Metagalli paying tribute to ‘Arjuna,’ elephant which carried the Golden Howdah for 11 times during the Jumboo Savari.
Students from a total of 45 colleges across the State performed highlighting the history, culture, freedom struggle and environment conservation. Among the performances, the one paying tributes to late Dasara elephant ‘Arjuna’ took the audience on an emotional journey. During the performance, the audience switched on their torch in their mobile phones and waived paying rich tributes to the elephants.
Later the students of the other colleges through their performance also paid tributes to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Thapar, Shivaram Rajguru, who fought against the British during the freedom struggle. The dance performance highlighting the contributions of Mysore Royal Family also received huge applause.
Yesterday’s event also witnessed students performing folk dances including gorava kunita, maragalu kunita, hulivesha and other tribal dances.
Students also performed Kodava dance on the occasion. The youth assembled at the venue were seen enjoying themselves despite sudden rains.
The Yuva Sambharama Sub-Committee for the first time had organised Fashion Show during which actor Suraj, a native of Mysuru, walked the ramp along with students dressed in traditional silk sarees.
Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya, Mysuru City Corporation Deputy Commissioner Somashekar Jigani, Yuva Sambharama Sub-Committee Working President Prathiba, Vice-President Krishnamurthy Ganiganur and others were present on the occasion.
