Zoo Gardens to celebrate World Environment Day tomorrow

Mysuru: Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) has organised following events to celebrate World Environment Day (Theme: ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’) tomorrow with the involvement of public, students, environmentalists, NGOs, media and Zoo volunteers:

  • At Lalithadripura Lake area at 2.30 pm: Talk on the importance of water resources and its conservation in the urban landscape by U.N. Ravikumar, Naturalist, Mysuru; Information about Trees and Birds species and their Identification; Planting of Saplings.
  • At Vanya Ranga, Zoo premises at 2.30 pm: Briefing about the successful story of action taken on ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ in Zoo premises through power point presentation and information on eco-friendly activities as well water conservation and its recycling adopted in Mysuru Zoo; Naming Ceremony to newly-born Calves of Giraffe, Hippopotamus and Gaur; Signature campaign; Planting of Saplings.

NOTE: Free entrance to Zoo has been provided to public, students, Environmentalists, NGO’s, Media and Zoo volunteers those who are participating in the above programmes on tomorrow from 2.30 pm.

Lecture: A talk by Dr. Mahadeswara Swamy, Scientist & Columnist SoM (Tree Facts) has been organised at Sheshadripuram PU College at 9 am on June 5 as part of World Environment Day.
