Mysuru: RDPR (Rural Development and Panchayat Raj) Minister K.S. Eshwarappa said that ZP CEOs will be bestowed with powers to transfer Panchayat Development Officers(PDO) coming under their jurisdiction.
Replying to a question by some members during the question hour in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Eshwarappa said that the Government will take necessary measures in this direction soon. Maintaining that the confusions and complexities being created by the PDOs have come to the notice of the Government, he said that the Government, taking note of the concerns expressed by several members regarding the functioning of PDOs, has decided to vest powers to ZP CEO’s to transfer PDOs.
The Legislative Members, who said that some PDOs, taking advantage of the illiteracy of GP members, were misguiding and misusing them for their selfish ends, urged the Minister to transfer PDOs after two years just like other officials and bureaucrats. Eshwarappa, in reply, said that the Government is responsive to the concerns of Legislators and would take appropriate measures for transferring PDOs, who have stuck on to one place for years.
