ZP members take DHO to task for poor state of Govt. hospitals

Accusing the District Health Officer (DHO) of being apathetic to the poor state of Government Hospitals in the dist., ZP Members took the DHO Dr. B. Basavaraju to task at a programme organised to sensitise the ZP Members on National Health Mission (NHM) and the State Government’s health initiatives, at the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Hall here yesterday.

DHO Dr. Basavaraju was giving a PPT presentation on health schemes and programmes, when ZP opposition leader Ravishankar intervened and took the DHO to task for the poor state of K.R. Nagar Government hospital.

Ravishankar was joined by other ZP Members, who alleged that the DHO did not inform them about his recent visit to  K.R. Nagar Hospital.

ZP Member Sudhir, who spoke, explained the sorry state of affairs at Bannur Hospital. He further alleged that the Hospital staff showed little responsibility in taking care of the patients.

Several other members alleged that the programme was organised hurriedly and were informed just a day in advance.

They also said that most of the other members could not attend the programme due to their pre-occupations. The meeting, which was scheduled to commence at 11 am, started at 12 noon after the arrival of ZP President Nayeema Sulthana who came to the venue after taking part in another programme.

Also, the programme hall too was changed. The programme which was scheduled to take place at the Mini Court Hall was shifted to Abdul Nazir Sab auditorium, after the ZP Members complained that the Mini Court Hall lacked seating arrangements.

ZP CEO P. Shivashankar presided. ZP Social Justice Standing Committee Chairman Beerihundi Basavanna, Health & Education Standing Committee Chairperson Jayalakshmi Rajanna and others attended the meeting.
