10-day Dasara Book Fair at Scouts and Guides Grounds

Mysore/Mysuru: The 10-day Dasara Book Fair will be held from Sept. 22 to Oct. 1 at Scouts and Guides Grounds near the Old Deputy Commissioner’s Office along Hunsur road in the city.

Kannada Book Authority (KBA) Chairman Manasa said that Kannada and Culture Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi will inaugurate the Fair at 5 pm on Sept.  22. The Book Fair will be open from 10 am to 8.30 pm on all the days, he said.

Prior to the inauguration of the Book Fair, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will release a book on International Booker Prize winner Banu Mushtaq written by author Shivananda and published by KBA, during  Dasara inauguration atop Chamundi Hill at 10.30 am tomorrow.

 A variety of Kannada books will be sold at a discounted price during the Fair.

Selfie with noted writers  —Sept. 23 – L.N. Mukundaraj and Vasudhendra, Sept. 24 – Dr. Sukanya Maruti and Rajappa Dalvai, Sept. 25 – Narasimhamurthy, Sept. 26 – Actor Shankar Ashwath, Sept. 28 – Prof. M. Krishnegowda, Sept. 29 – Dr. Aravind Malagatti and Sept. 30 – Dr. T.V. Venkatachala Shastry.

Cultural programmes will be held on all days of the fair at 4.30 pm. Seminars, debates and discussions in association with Karnataka Sangeetha Nrutya Academy, Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Karnataka Janapada Academy, Karnataka Yakshagana Academ y, Karnataka Nataka Academy, Karnataka Lalithakala Academy, Santakavi Kanakadasa and Tatvapada Padakarara Adhyayana Kendra, Bengaluru and Yuvaraja College, Mysuru, at Rashtrakavi Kuvempu Vedike erected at the venue.

Books of various authors will be released on Sept. 23, Sept. 25, Sept. 27, Sept. 28  and  Sept. 29 at 11 am.
