11th Edition of Tour of Nilgiris Concludes: Naveen John wins men’s title

Naveen John of India, taking part in the 11th edition of the Tour of Nilgiris (TfN) cycle expedition, won the title in the men’s section, when the competition concluded in Mysuru last evening.

The cyclists on the final day pedalled 133 kms from Kalpetta and passed through Pullpally, Payampally, H.D. Kote and reached Mysuru.

Naveen John won the men’s title while Katja-Lill-Jensen of Denmark won the women’s title. Kris Guns of Belgium won the Masters (35-45 years) title and Paul Stuart Wright (Great Britain) won the Veteran’s category title (above 45 years).

Kiran Kumar Raju of India won ‘King of Kalhatti’ title climbing the hill in a record time of 01:07.36s, while Katja-Lill-Jensen of Denmark was crowned ‘Queen of Kalhatti’ title for climbing the hill with a timing of 01:26.35s.

RESULTS

Men: 1. Naveen John (India) – 1:06:45, 2. Nils Eigil Bradtberg (Denmark) – 1:07:23, 3. Clinton lan Leong (Australia) – 1:09:48.

Women: 1. Katja-Lill Jensen (Denmark) – 1:20:30, 2. Lena Mareike Josefine Robra (Germany) – 1:23:07, 3. Cora Van Laer (Belgium) – 1:23:46.

Masters (35 to 45 years): 1. Kris Guns (Belgium) – 1:10:11, 2. Peter Roper (USA) – 1:11:37, 3. Hemendra Upadhyay (India) – 1:18:53.

Veterans (Over 45 years): 1. Paul Stuart Wright (Great Britain) – 1:14:30, 2. Reid Hamilton (Canada) – 1:19:11 and 3. Caspar Andreis (Denmark) – 1:21:35.
