Wife rescued from hubby’s home confinement
Mysore/Mysuru: A woman who was allegedly kept under home confinement by her husband from 12 years was rescued by H.D. Kote Police, at Hyrige village, H.D. Kote taluk in the district on Thursday. Police have arrested the woman’s husband, besides shifting her to her parents house.
Sannalaiah had allegedly kept his third wife confined to house, for the past 12 years, by keeping the house locked whenever he went out on work. He had the practice of locking the house with three padlocks. Fed up of his inhumane behaviour, his first two wives had separated from him, it is said.
Apart from keeping the house locked from outside, he was also keeping the windows shut restraining his wife from even speaking to their neighbours. Owing to lack of toilet, he had kept a bucket to attend nature’s call and was disposing urine and excreta outside in the night.
Learning about this cruel act, Siddappajj an advocate visited the house along with Jasheela, a Counsellor of Santhwana Kendra, Women and Child Development Department and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Subhan. They broke open the locks rescuing the woman and her children from the hardship they had to endure all these years, even as the curious villagers had gathered in large numbers.
Sannalaiah had issued murder threat to his wife, if she shared her plight with others. The villagers though aware of Sannalaiah ill-treating his family members were refraining from informing the Police for the fear of him. Though the village elders had convened panchayat on several occasions, he showed no sign of remorse and continued with his villainy act.
Police who arrested Sannalaiah, have shifted his wife and kids to her parents house upon her will. H.D. Kote Police have registered a case.
